Stone Care

Stash Home Care Guide

Natural stone such as travertine, marble and onyx is quarried, cut and finished by hand, so every top carries its own veining, movement and tone. These variations are the signature of genuine stone. Because stone is porous, it rewards a gentle, consistent care routine.

Routine Care

  • Dust often with a clean, soft cloth. Travertine has natural surface pitting that can collect fine debris, so a handheld vacuum or soft-bristled brush works well for a deeper pass.
  • Wash the surface periodically with a cloth dampened in warm water. If needed, add a drop of mild dish soap, then go over the surface again with a clean damp cloth so no residue is left behind.

Spills and Stains

  • Blot spills the moment they happen, then rinse the area with a clean, damp cloth. Acidic liquids such as wine, coffee, citrus and tomato sauce can etch or stain stone quickly if left to sit.

What to Avoid

  • Never place hot dishes, pans or mugs directly on stone. Always use trivets and coasters, and slide a mat or runner under decorative objects that could scratch.
  • Do not use abrasive powders, spray cleansers, furniture polish or any product containing vinegar, lemon or other acids.
  • Avoid dragging sharp or heavy items across the surface. Stone can chip, nick or scratch.

Long-Term Maintenance

  • Your piece arrives sealed, but sealant wears over time. We recommend reapplying a quality stone sealer about once a year, or whenever water stops beading on the surface.
  • Polished stones such as onyx can be refreshed every couple of years with a stone polish to restore their luster.
